Job summary

Marshall University in Huntington, WV seeks a Collegiate Recovery Peer Support Specialist to facilitate recovery‑oriented group and individual interventions for students and community members on campus.

You will conduct outreach, plan trainings, assist in crisis moments, link students with support groups and services, and collaborate with faculty to build a recovery network across campus.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Must hold PRSS SUD credential.
• Knowledge of substance use disorders and recovery support.
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle required.
• Personal history with SUD and stable recovery for 2+ years.
• No recent legal involvement related to SUD/OUD within six months.
• No intensive behavioral health treatment involvement in last six months.
• Pass Criminal Background Check and Employment Fitness Determination.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate recovery oriented group and individual supportive interventions with students and community members.
• Conduct outreach visits to an assigned area.
• Provide outreach and early intervention to individuals in pre-contemplation and contemplation stages.
• Plan, promote and host training events and informational sessions.
• Deliver remarks to combat stigma and raise awareness.
• Assist individuals in crisis situations involving social, emotional, health issues.
• Work on college campuses with faculty, staff and administration to develop support.
• Link students with support groups, treatment programs and community resources.
• Build and maintain partnerships across campus and communities.
• Act as liaison between students, campuses, communities and service organizations.
• Report to supervisor and project coordinator.
• Assist with project activities to meet goals and timeline.
• Participate in trainings and certification; adhere to ethics.
• Participate in weekly conference calls; collect assessments and develop plans.
• Complete reports, paperwork, and time sheets.
• Gain working knowledge of center policies and service delivery model.
• Represent the school and network positively; follow mission and conduct codes.
