Job summary

Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC is seeking a Public Safety Enforcement Officer to patrol campus and off-campus grounds, enforce parking and conduct policies, respond to emergencies, and support safety operations for students, faculty and staff.

Qualified candidates will have strong Microsoft Office skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a valid NC driver’s license (or obtain within 2 months).

Qualifications

• General computer operations and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Office machines and of all other office practices and procedures.
• Able to maintain a pleasant and courteous demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and students.
• Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and by e-mail.
• Meet deadlines on assigned tasks and other activities.
• Handle stressful or high-pressure situations effectively.
• Organize, prioritize, and carry out field work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus, off-campus areas, parking lots, and residential halls to enforce student codes and campus violations.
• Conduct field inspections of areas needing safety, parking, smoking, or loitering signs.
• Respond to complaints and reports from faculty, staff, students regarding parking, trash, or crowds.
• Issue warnings, citations, boot immobilizations, or towing as needed due to violations and official communications.
• Take photographic evidence, write detailed inspection narratives, and maintain records of cases.
• Educate students and staff on campus violations and student code of conduct.
• Prepare case files, present evidence, and testify in administrative hearings or municipal court if subpoenaed.
• Carry out any additional duties as assigned.
