Job summary

Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting a full-time Police Officer 1 for the Public Safety department in Lancaster, PA. The role covers overnight shifts (6:00 P.M. – 6:00 A.M.), patrolling campus, and responding to incidents with first aid and detailed reporting.

Requirements include ACT 120 certification (or eligibility), BLS/CPR/First Aid, a PA driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks and a fitness assessment. Excellent service in a collegial setting is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• ACT 120 Municipal Police Officer certification or eligible.
• BLS/CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• Valid PA driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Pre-employment background checks, fitness evaluation, drug screen, and psych profile.
• Able to qualify with department firearm.
• Proficiency with Google Suite products.
• Commitment to service and collegial campus environment.
• Successful interview and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Patrol College buildings, grounds, and surrounding areas by foot, bike, or vehicle.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and requests; provide emergency first aid when needed.
• Complete incident reports, logs, and records per policy and law.
• Assist campus community with information, escorts, and access control.
• Perform additional law enforcement and safety duties as directed.
• Carry out duties while upholding institutional safety goals.
