Job summary

South Carolina State University in Orangeburg seeks a Law Enforcement Officer to serve with integrity on the campus Public Safety team, reporting through the Chief of Campus Police. You will be a uniformed, sworn presence across the campus—patrolling grounds, responding to calls, enforcing SC statutes and university policies, and coordinating with local agencies on safety planning.

Qualifications

• SLED certification or eligibility to obtain within required timeframe.
• SC driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to de-escalate and communicate under pressure.
• Sound judgment applying law and policy.
• Commitment to community policing on a student-centered campus.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus grounds, buildings, and facilities on foot and by vehicle.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls and document incidents.
• Enforce South Carolina statutes and university policies fairly.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement and campus departments on safety planning.
