Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) in Nashville seeks an experienced Police Sergeant to supervise and perform police officer duties, enforce laws, and oversee department training across campuses. The role supports planning, organizing, and directing training programs and acts as second in command in the Chief's absence.

The position requires POST certification, 3 years of law enforcement experience, and the ability to coordinate security for campus events.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Tennessee FTO certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• Minimum 3 years of law enforcement experience.
• Tennessee driver’s license; out-of-state must obtain TN license within 30 days.
• Current POST certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Pass medical, drug, and psychological evaluations.
• Background check and MVR clearance.
• CJIS certification within 90 days.

Responsabilités

• Performs duties of Police Officer and acts as second in command in Chief's absence.
• Assist with planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing departmental training across college campuses.
• Coordinate training programs, record keeping, and compliance with Clery Act requirements.
• Lead training activities and in-service presentations for officers and campus population.
• Maintain records, reports, and coordination with security providers; assist in security planning for events and emergencies.
• Respond to incidents, document and report to authorities; testify in court when required.
• Ensure safety and security equipment operation and maintenance.

Formation

High School Diploma

Training experience and Field Training Officer certification in Tennessee

Three (3) years of relevant law enforcement experience

Current certification by the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Commission

CJIS Certification within 90 days
