Job summary

Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) is seeking a Police Officer for University Police to protect students, visitors, faculty and staff on the SEMO campus. This full-time role involves patrolling campus properties, responding to emergencies, investigating incidents for prosecution, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED; MO POST certification or completion of an approved academy; a valid MO driver license; and willingness to work

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; college coursework or degree a plus.
• Must be Missouri POST certified or have completed an approved academy training program and become POST certified by first day of employment.
• Must possess a valid Missouri driver license.
• Must be 21 years of age with U.S. citizenship and no felony convictions of moral turpitude or domestic violence.

Responsibilities

• Protects and serves SEMO students, visitors, faculty, and staff on campus.
• Patrols and protects campus properties, buildings and grounds.
• Investigates crimes for presentation to municipal and county attorneys for prosecution.
• Responds to requests for service and campus emergencies.
• Enforces the Student Code of Conduct and refers to the Office of Student Conduct.
• Conducts patrols and routine security checks of campus buildings.
• Provides safety and crime prevention education for the campus community.
