Job summary

Black Hawk College seeks a Police Officer to serve as a conservator of the peace on campus, protecting personnel, students, visitors, and property. You will enforce state and college laws and work closely with local agencies, performing patrols, traffic control, investigations, and emergency response.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and Peace Officer certification; an associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice preferred.
• Certification as a Peace Officer from the Illinois Police Training and Standards Board required.
• Two years experience as a sworn law enforcement official preferred.
• Must be at least twenty-one years of age and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintains order on College property and at College functions.
• Conducts patrols to prevent crimes, identify risks, and report safety issues.
• Enforces laws, college ordinances, and directs traffic and accidents on campus.
• Prepares and submits written reports on all aspects of the job.
• Responds to emergencies and assists local police and fire departments as needed.
• Assists with safety compliance and operates College-issued equipment.
