Black Hawk College is seeking a Police Officer to conservatively maintain order, protect students, staff and visitors, and enforce state and college regulations on campus. The role includes patrols, incident reporting, traffic control, and emergency response to safeguard campus life and property.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a Peace Officer certification from IPSTB, and a willingness to work nights and weekends with a background check. College benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.
• Certification as a Peace Officer from the Illinois Police Training and Standards Board required.
• Two years experience as a sworn law enforcement official preferred.
• Must be able to read and understand the criminal code.
• Must be bondable.

Responsibilities

• Maintains order on College property and at College functions.
• Conducts patrols of the College to prevent and detect crimes and hazards.
• Identify risks relating to crimes and suspicious activity on campus.
• Prepare and submit written reports on all aspects of the job.
• Responds to emergencies and protects lives and property.

Education

Associate’s degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice (or related field) preferred
