Job summary

University System of New Hampshire seeks a campus police officer to patrol UNH facilities, enforce laws, and protect life and property. You will engage with the public, conduct investigations, and prepare official reports and warrants.

The role requires deescalation skills, use of force when needed, and collaboration with schools and local agencies. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED; a Criminal Justice degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Criminal Justice degree preferred for consideration.
• Experience as a police officer or campus law enforcement a plus.
• Valid New Hampshire driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned area to enforce motor vehicle and criminal laws and university, state, and federal regulations.
• Interact with the public and other officers to obtain information for case development.
• Perform traffic control, accident response and scene security.
• Conduct investigations, collect evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
• Prepare reports, warrants, and administrative documents for UNH and court use.
• Deescalate conflicts and exercise appropriate use of force when necessary.
• Participate in crime prevention, campus safety programs and special events.
• Complete juvenile reports and collaborate with schools and authorities.
• Maintain physical fitness and pass required examinations annually.
