Job summary

The University of Michigan is hiring Police Officer within the Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) to protect the campus community across Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint sites. You will report to a Police Sergeant and support safety operations at Marygrove and satellite locations in Wayne County.

Responsibilities include enforcing laws and ordinances, campus patrols, citations, warrants, arrests, and testimony in hearings while practicing community-oriented policing and providing

Qualifications

• Background checks, drug screening, psychological evaluation, and physical exam are required.
• High school or GED equivalence with 2 years police/military experience or an associate degree plus training and certification.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Uphold standards of conduct and protect the community while preventing crime.
• Enforce university ordinances, state and federal laws.
• Patrol campus areas and issue citations for parking and traffic control.
• Respond to policing events on and near campus.
• Obtain and serve warrants, subpoenas, and other court documents.
• Identify, apprehend, and arrest suspects.
• Testify in criminal, civil, and administrative hearings.
• Engage in community-oriented policing and problem-solving.
