South Dakota State University Police Department seeks dedicated individuals for the University Law Enforcement Officer role. It is a 12‑month, 100% time position to advance SDSU’s mission by keeping students, faculty, staff, and visitors safe and supported on campus.

Applicants must be US citizens, at least 21, and capable of rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Background checks, polygraph, and medical exams are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of police methods: patrol, prevention, traffic control, investigation.
• Rules of evidence for search and seizure.
• Laws governing apprehension and custody of felonies/misdemeanors.
• First aid principles and techniques.
• Operation of police equipment including firearms.
• Crowd control methods and safety considerations.
• Local, state, and federal laws and campus policies.
• Report preparation and writing.
• Good English spelling and grammar.

Responsabilités

• Provide professional law enforcement and public safety services for the campus and surrounding community.
• Maintain visible presence to deter and detect crime and respond to emergencies.
• Support 24/7 campus policing and special events as needed.
• Participate in background checks and training requirements as part of employment.
