Job summary

South Carolina State University is seeking a dedicated Law Enforcement Officer II to join the University Police Department on a full-time basis. The role focuses on protecting the Bulldog community through proactive campus safety, reporting, and engagement with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include patrolling campus, responding to calls, enforcing laws and policies, and building trust with the campus community.

Qualifications

• SLED certification or eligibility to obtain within a defined period.
• High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor's in criminal justice preferred.
• Valid South Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication for reporting and interaction.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus grounds, buildings, and parking areas on foot and by vehicle.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, conduct preliminary investigations, and prepare incident reports.
• Enforce state laws, university policies, and campus traffic regulations.
• Build positive relationships with the campus community through professional conduct.
