University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is seeking a Police Officer I to patrol campus buildings and grounds, provide protection and emergency aid, and perform investigations as needed. The role requires certification or completion of the 720-hour academy, valid driver’s license, and the ability to operate standard law enforcement equipment.

The position includes a shift differential and a pathway to Wisconsin DOJ certification. Initial interviews are virtual with on-campus follow-up.

Qualifications

• Certifiable as a Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officer or completion of the 720-hour academy, or enrollment in a WI DOJ training and eligible for LESB certification.
• Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license (or from another state) and be eligible to drive a University vehicle.
• Ability to perform essential functions of a police officer and to use standard law enforcement equipment.

Responsabilités

• Provide protection of life and property; offer emergency aid to the campus community.
• Engage in problem solving, threat mitigation, and conflict resolution across diverse stakeholders.
• Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations; document case information and identify suspects or victims.
• Ensure safe traffic flow on campus roadways and enforce traffic laws.
• Provide public safety education and maintain professional relations with a diverse community.
