Job summary

The University Police Officer role at the University of Scranton is a full-time position that delivers professional police services to the campus community. The role offers a $25.00 hourly pay and a $4,500 sign-on bonus paid over three years. Applicants must be U.S.

Qualifications

• Must possess the requisite skills, knowledge and abilities to be a police officer.
• Must be physically capable to perform the duties of a police officer.
• Must be of good moral character.
• Possess and maintain a current knowledge of federal, state, and local laws as they pertain to the University and law enforcement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Must be able to support the University’s commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture.
• Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission.

Responsibilities

• Professionally and courteously manage all incidents affecting safety of university community.
• Be physically capable to perform police duties.
• Enforce applicable laws and regulations.
• Respond to emergencies and conduct investigations.
• Establish positive working relationships with students, staff, and community members.
• Conduct patrols on foot and in vehicles and address safety issues.
• Appear and testify in court and participate in disciplinary processes as needed.
