Job summary

Princeton University’s Department of Public Safety seeks entry-level University Police Officers. The position offers paid NJ police academy training, uniforms, and equipment under the FOP contract.

Cadets earn salary during academy and may receive a sign-on bonus if currently certified or approved by NJ Training Commission. Sworn officers have full powers of arrest under NJ law and must complete required training; the department prioritizes safety, accreditation, and service to the campus

Qualifications

• Two years of work and/or life experience in community service/involvement.
• Experience in interviewing, public speaking, and conflict resolution.
• Creative problem solving in challenging situations.
• Multicultural work and life experiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide campus safety, security and law enforcement services.
• First responder to incidents, accidents and emergencies; conduct investigations.
• Enforce University regulations, local ordinances and state laws.
• Work under the direction of a sergeant and participate in crime prevention.
