Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is seeking a College Work Study Student Photographer to capture and edit images documenting people, programs, events, and student experiences across campus locations. You will help produce visual content for the College website, social media, and publications, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.

The role requires creativity, reliability, and the ability to work independently or with staff.

Qualifications

• Must be a registered student of Southwest Tennessee Community College.
• Only students approved for Federal Work Study qualify for this position.
• Basic experience using a digital camera and editing photographs.
• Ability to provide a small portfolio or samples demonstrating photography skills.
• Ability to travel between assigned Southwest campus locations and arrive on time for assignments.

Responsibilities

• Photograph College events, activities, programs, and campus life at multiple locations.
• Select, edit, and prepare photographs for digital/print use (exposure, color, cropping, sharpening).
• Download and deliver image files promptly following departmental conventions.
• Add accurate captions, dates, locations and metadata when requested.
• Assist with organizing and archiving the College photo library for easy retrieval.
• Coordinate with Marketing staff to confirm purpose, audience, shot list, schedule and delivery requirements.
• Use natural/flash lighting and composition techniques for clear, professional images.
• Assist with short-form video content for social media when assigned.
• Maintain camera, lighting, and equipment; report issues promptly.
• Follow College brand standards and privacy policies for image use.
