Job summary

IKUS Life Enrichment Services is seeking a Maintenance and Custodial Assistant in Grand Rapids, MI. The role focuses on cleaning cabins, restrooms, offices, and common areas across the IKUS campus, with additional basic maintenance and grounds tasks throughout the year.

The position requires physical work, independence, and adherence to checklists and safety procedures. Evening or weekend availability may be required; the schedule can be part-time or full-time depending on organizational needs.

Qualifications

• Dependable with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions and complete checklists.
• Comfortable performing physical work (standing, lifting, etc.).
• Willingness to learn to safely use basic cleaning supplies, tools, and grounds equipment.
• Able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain cabins, restrooms, offices, common areas, and other campus spaces.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, sanitize, and empty trash.
• Restock cleaning and paper supplies; report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Assist with maintenance, grounds upkeep, and handyman tasks as abilities allow.
• Assist with mowing, leaves, snow/ice removal, and event setup/cleanup.
• Communicate with maintenance team on completed work and needs.
