Job summary

UMBC Facilities Management is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to inspect and repair campus lighting systems, guiding maintenance assistants and handling minor facility repairs on the UMBC campus in Baltimore.

The role requires at least three years of related experience and a Maryland Class C driver's license. A background check is required; benefits include generous leave and a comprehensive package. This is a full-time position on-site with UMBC.

Qualifications

• Three years related work experience.
• Class C driver's license valid in the State of Maryland.
• Background check will be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical lighting systems, ensuring proper operation of fixtures, ballasts, and bulbs.
• Troubleshoots and replaces defective lighting components, including ballasts, sockets, and LED drivers, ensuring compliance with electrical codes.
• Maintains accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used in work orders.
• Ensures compliance with safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of electrical waste and hazardous materials.
• Provides guidance and instruction to maintenance assistants and ensures adherence to established maintenance schedules.
• Performs other maintenance-related duties as assigned, including minor repairs to facility infrastructure such as doors, locks, and fixtures.
