Job summary

Laurel Ridge Community College seeks a Law Enforcement Officer I to support campus safety across multi-campus environments. You will respond to security incidents, enforce laws within the college’s jurisdiction, and engage with students and staff to maintain a safe learning atmosphere.

The role is part-time, offers an hourly wage range of $20.41 to $27.55, and requires Virginia DCJS certification or eligibility for recertification within 120 days. Travel between campuses is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be Virginia DCJS certified law enforcement officer or eligible for recertification within 120 days
• Must maintain DCJS certification and complete minimum in-service requirements
• Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Must safely handle agency-issued weapons and qualify annually
• Must be willing to travel between Laurel Ridge campuses

Responsibilities

• Respond to safety and security needs of faculty, staff, and students
• Protect life and property and enforce college rules within jurisdiction
• Provide preventative, investigative, and enforcement services based on community policing
