Job summary

University of North Dakota seeks a custodial staff member to perform cleaning, upkeep and maintenance of buildings on the Grand Forks campus. You will move furniture, collect waste and recyclables, operate laundry equipment and assist with events by setting up spaces.

The role requires adherence to university policies, ability to operate commercial laundry gear, and willingness to work a schedule including weekends. Training and safety procedures will be provided.

Qualifications

• Comprehend, follow direction and use sound decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills; ability to interact with students, faculty, staff and coworkers.
• Withstand long periods of lifting, pulling, tugging, climbing, kneeling, working with hands overhead.
• Complete necessary training for this job classification, as needed.
• Subject to Criminal History Background Check.

Responsibilities

• Mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, shampooing, and renewing floor finishes.
• Washing windows, blinds, mirrors, walls, doors, and woodwork.
• Cleaning and dusting furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, appliances, and related furnishings.
• Cleaning and disinfecting rest rooms in public and/or residential areas.
• Maintaining a continuous supply of paper in all dispensers.
• Collecting and picking up waste and recyclable materials, inside and outside buildings.
• May perform power washing, leaf removal, snow moving; may operate a snow blower.
