Job summary

Michigan State University\u2019s Culinary Services is seeking a Cook I to join a high-energy kitchen team. You will prepare ingredients, follow recipes, and cook a variety of menu items using grills, ovens, and fryers to deliver quality meals for the MSU community.

Based in Brody Hall, this on-site role requires keeping stations clean, maintaining safe food temperatures, and portioning servings to control waste.

Qualifications

• Must follow prescribed recipes.
• Working knowledge of cooking methods, processes, and materials.
• Two years satisfactory experience as a Food Service Worker or equivalent.
• Willingness to work a flexible shift.
• Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules.
• Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping and measuring for daily service.
• Cook dishes using grills, ovens, and fryers and season to ensure high quality.
• Portion food to exact servings to control waste and costs; maintain safety and temperatures.
