Job summary

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona is seeking a Groundsworker for its Facilities Planning and Management team to maintain campus landscapes and athletic fields. The role involves planting, pruning, mowing, fertilizing, and water management across grounds areas, with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

You will operate basic grounds equipment and assist with field preparations. The position is full-time and on-site, with a Monday–Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm schedule.

Qualifications

• Valid California driver's license and proof of insurance.
• One year experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
• Thorough knowledge of general gardening and grounds maintenance methods.
• Ability to recognize common California ornamental plants.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical work and operate small trucks and grounds equipment.
• Read and write at a level appropriate to duties.

Responsibilities

• Plant, cultivate, prune, trim, fertilize, and water ornamentals and lawns.
• Maintain areas by raking leaves and clearing debris, including parking lots.
• Prepare soil and planting areas for growth.
• Operate and maintain small power equipment safely.
• Assist with preparing athletic fields for events.
• Drive vehicles to carry out tasks and manage tools and supplies.
