Job summary

Yale University seeks a Groundskeeper 4 to maintain athletic fields, golf courses, and campus landscapes in the New Haven area. You will estimate materials, procure supplies, and support events with grounds services under supervision. A 1-year probationary period applies, with duties across seasons.

The role demands physical work, outdoor conditions in all weather, and valid CT driver’s license. You will operate a range of landscape equipment and contribute to safe, cost-effective campus upkeep.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of grounds maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains University properties including litter removal, debris removal, sidewalks, snow and leaf removal, mulching, mowing, and general landscaping.
• Mows tees, greens, approaches, fairways and roughs on the Golf Course using specialized equipment.
• Maintains athletic facilities: setup, layout, marking and maintenance of fields, tennis courts, track, and polo fields.
• Supports University events by coordinating grounds services and repairs.
• Installs plant material, trees, shrubs, sod, lawns, and other planting material as directed.
• Operates power equipment such as mowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and tractors; may operate a chainsaw when trained.
• Practices safety standards; reports repairs and hazards to supervisor; complies with Yale rules.
