Job summary

University of Georgia is seeking a Grounds Keeper II to maintain campus grounds, operate heavy equipment, and lead crew activities. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience, with physical stamina for extended labor and safety compliance.

Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, irrigation, and routine upkeep, as well as assisting in training staff and handling emergencies during shifts. This is a full-time, on-site position on the Athens campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to operate major grounds maintenance equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds turf and landscaping by operating major equipment such as riding mowers, backpack blowers, weed trimmers and edgers, dump trucks, leaf trucks, tractors, aerators.
• Assist in planning and organization of daily work; help direct the crew to meet timelines.
• Monitor safety guidelines and train employees in proper maintenance techniques and methods.
• Mulching; insecticide, fungicide and herbicide applications; irrigation and weed control.
• Respond to campus emergencies during work hours including inclement weather events.
