SSC Services for Education, a Compass Group company, is seeking a Grounds Superintendent for the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. The role leads a multi-faceted grounds team, focusing on quality landscape, hardscape, turf, trees, and equipment maintenance while coordinating with unit leadership.

The position requires hands-on leadership, field-based work, and the ability to manage projects, safety compliance, and client satisfaction in a dynamic campus environment.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Grounds Management or 5–10 years of related experience.
• Strong initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership.
• Excellent client and internal staff communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Train staff in operational procedures for grounds operations.
• Ensure quality assurance through inspections and a QA system.
• Supervise field and administrative work with ~70% field time.
• Control expenses and provide weekly reports to Grounds Manager/Director.
• Hire, interview, and coach staff; support client satisfaction and account retention.
• Maintain logs for equipment maintenance and grounds supplies.
