Job summary

University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to keep campus lawns, trees, shrubs, and beds in good condition and to operate/maintain related equipment. Responsibilities include mowing, fertilizing, irrigation, pesticide applications, and leading student workers.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime available. Must have a valid driver's license and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Six months of grounds maintenance/landscaping experience preferred.
• Valid Drivers License required.
• Working knowledge of horticultural chemicals and turf care.
• Basic math and measurement skills for chemical mixing and applications.
• Ability to calibrate spray and fertilizer equipment.

Responsibilities

• Mow, edge, trim, irrigate, and fertilize campus lawns.
• Prepare areas and sow seed or lay sod.
• Operate and maintain lawn maintenance equipment.
• Apply insecticides, herbicides and fungicides.
• Lead student employees in assigned area.
• Operate irrigation controllers and repair irrigation systems.
• Inspect, repair, install playground equipment as needed.
