Job summary

Gwinnett Technical College seeks a Groundskeeper to maintain and beautify campus grounds on a day shift. You will operate heavy landscaping equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure turf and plantings remain attractive and safe throughout the campus.

The role requires adherence to safety and training requirements, including Hazardous Materials and Bloodborne Pathogen training, with potential overtime for emergencies and after-hours work.

Qualifications

• Any combination of training and experience that would enable the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Associate Degree or Diploma in Horticulture preferred.
• 1-2 years’ experience in a production landscape maintenance/installation environment.
• Experience with troubleshooting, repairing, and installing irrigation systems.
• Experience with troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining landscape maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates commercial landscaping equipment to maintain and beautify campus grounds.
• Maintains campus grounds to be safe and visually appealing.
• Performs operator checks and maintenance on grounds equipment.
• May supervise work-study students and unskilled landscape labor.
• Responds to campus emergencies as needed.
• Demonstrates willingness to learn and accept responsibility.
