Job summary

The University of Southern Indiana is seeking a Grounds and Athletic Fields Supervisor to coordinate and supervise all grounds and athletic field maintenance. Responsibilities include lawn care, landscape development, snow/ice removal, trash disposal, and recycling for university grounds, roads, parking, and fields.

Responsibilities also include planning crews, ordering supplies, ensuring safety, supervising pest control, and assisting with budget planning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required with at least three years of experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, or turf management.
• Knowledge of microcomputers and email software required.
• Knowledge of horticulture, landscape design, and turf management practices.
• Certification of Pesticide Applicator for Indiana required or ability to obtain.
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record per USI policy.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate seasonal programs for landscape design, pest control, turf management, and recycling operations.
• Plan, schedule, supervise crews and inspect work in progress and on completion.
• Determine personnel, equipment and materials needed for assignments.
• Order and oversee inventory of chemicals, supplies, and planting materials.
• Ensure safe use of equipment and training of personnel.
• Inspect trees, shrubs, and turf for diseases and pests and coordinate corrective actions.
• Assist in annual budget planning for grounds maintenance.
• Maintain records on personnel, safety, equipment, and plant statistics.
• Supervise application of chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides as necessary.
• Coordinate snow and ice removal operations and vendor work.
• Coordinate work by vendors related to grounds maintenance.
