Job summary

Des Moines Area Community College is seeking a Maintenance/Custodian to keep West Des Moines campus facilities clean and safe. You will perform cleaning tasks and basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs under supervision.

The role requires experience with custodial equipment, ability to lift heavy items, and a valid Iowa driver’s license. Work schedule is Monday–Friday, day hours, with a starting wage of $18.58–$21.28 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• One year of custodial experience including operation of extractors, burnishers and auto scrubbers.
• Ability to read and understand operating instructions.
• Ability to move equipment and supplies up to 75 lbs; climb ladders; bend, reach and push.

Responsibilities

• Keep buildings neat, clean and sanitary for college use.
• Perform mechanical, electrical and plumbing repairs as directed.
• Maintain grounds (snow removal, mowing, planting, fertilizing, aeration).
• Order and maintain custodial supplies; secure buildings; supervise temporary staff when assigned.
• Complete ongoing training on equipment, safety regulations, and new products.
