Job summary

Colorado Mesa University is seeking Fall 2026 student employees to join the Facilities Utility Crew, supporting daily campus operations and learning the ins and outs of campus maintenance. You will move furniture, assist with events, operate forklifts and other equipment, clean, shovel snow, power wash, and perform various trades tasks while gaining hands-on skills.

The role offers a behind-the-scenes look at campus facilities, with training provided for equipment use and a focus on safety.

Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled student at Colorado Mesa University.
• Must be dependable and able to work multiple days per week including over the summer.
• Must have clear and valid driver’s license (MVR will be requested as terms of employment).
• Ability to safely lift and move items (typically up to 10 -100 lbs.).
• Reliable time management and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with staff, departments, and vendors.
• Assist with loading and unloading truck and delivery of event resources.
• Carry out day to day tasks efficiently and effectively.
• Operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklift (Training provided).
• Operate trades power tools (Drills, saws, sanders).
• Safe operations of all CMU vehicles.
• Trailer towing.
• Maintenance and upkeep of dumpsters on campus.
• Follow all safety procedures, guidelines, and compliance regulations.
• Support general maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors.
