Job summary

Colorado Mesa University is seeking student team members to join the backstage theater crew on campus. You’ll learn by doing, helping to build the worlds on stage with guidance provided. No prior shop experience required, and you will be taught essential skills to support productions.

Responsibilities include building and moving sets, painting, prop work, lighting setup, and stage maintenance. Expect to work 2–5 pm on weekdays, with occasional Saturdays/Sundays; safety gear is supplied, and

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled CMU student with Workstudy or MavWorks.
• Able to stand for a few hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Wear closed-toe shoes for safety.
• No earbuds allowed for safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with backstage tasks as needed each week.
• Build and move set pieces using basic tools.
• Carry heavy set pieces onto the stage (up to 50 pounds).
• Disassemble and clean stage after shows.
• Paint walls and surfaces; apply textures to mimic brick/stone.
• Find or create small items used on stage.
• Hang lighting instruments; basic electrical work; safety harness work may be involved.
• Tidy cables, mats, and organize; wear appropriate work clothes.
