Job summary

Ithaca College is seeking a custodial staff member to maintain cleanliness and safety across campus buildings, dorms, and offices. The role includes stocking supplies, assisting visitors, and ensuring a hospitable environment.

The position is essential during emergencies, may require overtime, nights, and weekends, and offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, PTO, and retirement plans. A background check is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work with minimal supervision.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact respectfully within a diverse environment.
• Familiarity with cleaning agents and related equipment.
• Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs and climb a 6-ft. ladder.
• Background check clearance required; driver's license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety, cleanliness and order of indoor campus facilities including floors, walls, furniture and windows.
• Perform routine maintenance such as changing light bulbs, clock batteries, resetting clocks and refilling supplies.
• Operate cleaning equipment for floors and carpets and remove spots and stains.
• Clean outdoor areas and remove snow and ice from entrances.
• Prepare for events with setup and seating arrangements and assist with lighting and elevators.
• Provide hospitality services and turnover of facilities for guests during summer.
