Job summary

Jacksonville State University is seeking a Supervisor, Maintenance to lead skilled trades across campus facilities, ensuring buildings remain sound, comfortable and aesthetically appealing. The role requires supervising carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, locksmiths and movers, coordinating preventive maintenance, and driving cost-effective repairs.

Start date is January 4, 2027, with an annual salary of $65,000 and a 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Minimum of five years of experience in supervision of maintenance or construction work in commercial buildings.
• Valid Alabama Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Supervises skilled maintenance craftsman.
• Prioritizes and schedules preventive maintenance.
• Outlines and explains to subordinates work to be done; inspects completed tasks.
• Prepares cost estimates, including time and materials, for services that are separate from normal maintenance projects.
• Coordinates purchasing of materials for maintenance and special projects.
• Oversees the maintenance of all academic, administrative and auxiliary buildings and structures of the University.
• Oversees and assists in preventive maintenance on all equipment; inspects the quality of maintenance and repair work; directs and evaluates the performance of the maintenance staff daily.
• Ensures the completion of maintenance and repair jobs in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
• Monitors service work orders for repairs and service calls to ensure prompt and efficient response is being maintained.
• Develops and maintains a well-disciplined and well-adjusted work force of capable, motivated employees, and initiates corrective disciplinary action when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
