Job summary

UW-Stevens Point Police Department is seeking a Police Dispatcher who serves as the first point of contact for campus community and public. You will manage two-way radios, phones, and computer systems to coordinate emergency communications for campus-wide alerts.

The role requires prioritizing, multitasking, and maintaining calm during incidents, with responsibility for confidential police reports, dispatch logs, and crime statistics dissemination.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must become certified with WI DOJ TIME System; background check.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Outlook.
• Experience with multi-line telephones.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm in stressful situations.
• Attention to detail and meeting timelines.
• Ability to work independently and set priorities.
• Discretion with confidential information.
• Ability to work with people across levels of the organization.
• Typing/keyboard proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Schedules logistics and secures resources for emergency response.
• Documents incidents accurately following policies and regulations.
• Operates police radios, phones, and related equipment to receive/relay information.
• Troubleshoots, triages, and escalates issues per procedures.
• Communicates clearly and provides instructions in high-stress situations.
