Job summary

Great Western Dining Service at Mineral Area College is seeking a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals. The successful candidate will follow instructions, be deft in moving around the kitchen, and multitask efficiently to meet service demands.

You will set up workstations with ingredients and equipment, prepare and cook items for meals and events, maintain sanitary standards, and ensure proper storage while following HACCP and safety policies in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as cook.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling).
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Very good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.).
• Prepare, portion, cook food items for various meal periods or special events.
• Ability to follow basic recipes and production information.
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
• Follow all company HACCP and safety policies.
