Job summary

Great Western Dining Service, Inc at Allen Community College in Iola, KS seeks a talented Chef to plan, prepare and oversee high-quality meals for campus community. The role includes menu development, staff supervision and ensuring food safety compliance in a diverse dining program.

Responsibilities include back-of-house operations, maintaining food quality, controlling costs, and coordinating with management on hiring, training and budgeting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Culinary Arts preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience in personnel management.
• Knowledge of HACCP and safe food handling.
• Experience with budgeting, food cost controls and inventory.
• Strong leadership and training skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and oversee nutritious meals for students, faculty and staff.
• Develop menus and supervise kitchen staff.
• Ensure food safety compliance and sanitation standards.
• Maintain food cost and manage inventory controls.
• Hire, coach, train and develop team members.
• Handle purchasing and financial reporting as interim Food Service Director when needed.
