Job summary

Kamehameha Schools is seeking a Campus Custodian for the Kapalama Campus. This temporary position involves performing general custodial services and assisting other custodians as needed.

Job description

Overview

Campus Custodians (Temporary) for Kapalama Campus – temporary custodial support with pay ranging from $22‑$25 per hour, potentially at level I or II.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general custodial services, including event set up (interior & exterior) and assist other custodians as needed.
  • Work with CustodianII/III to review work, assess risks, and ensure safety mitigations.
  • Prepare work areas, assemble materials and tools, clean equipment and machines after use.
  • Assist with wide range of custodial services under guidance or independently.
  • Attend all technical and safety training, use PPE, and follow safety guidance.
  • Report safety hazards to supervisor and correct them if able.
  • Participate in campus and department events and activities as scheduled.
  • Adhere to employee handbook protocols and mandatory reporting, and suggest improvements to operational efficiency.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1year of prior custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience.
  • Good work ethic, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to demonstrate increasing competence with training and experience.
  • Willingness to accept and follow directions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend training materials, safety instructions, and follow them.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including after‑hours, morning, and weekend as required.
  • Demonstrated values of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
Physical Requirements

Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects over 50pounds; walking, standing, bending, crouching, reaching, and sometimes sitting. Manual dexterity and strength required to use hand tools.

Working Conditions

Exposure to extreme temperatures, hazardous materials, dust, dirt, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, both outdoors and indoors. Work typically conducted Monday‑Friday afternoons and evenings; morning or weekend hours may be required.

Benefits & Compensation

Hourly compensation: $22‑$25 per hour (commensurate with experience). Pay range: $20.73‑$27.48. Total Rewards Program includes benefits for physical, mental, and financial well‑being.
