Job summary

Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a dedicated Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming campus spaces—restrooms, classrooms, and common areas—through cleaning tasks and by caring for equipment.

You will support events by arranging tables and chairs, participate in building inspections, and collaborate with a team to meet high standards of cleanliness and safety across the university.

Qualifications

• Level I requires ability to read and write.
• Level II requires reading and writing and 2 years custodial floor care experience.
• Substitutions allowed: education may count toward experience.

Responsibilities

• Cleans university buildings (restrooms, classrooms, common areas) to ensure facilities are suitable for activities.
• Maintains cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Assist with waste disposal and recycling efforts.
• Report on maintenance and/or safety issues.
• Operate cleaning and floor equipment safely and effectively.
• Transport custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage/work areas.
• Assist in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
