Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in a K-12 campus environment. Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas to support a safe, sanitary campus.

Role involves sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and chemical safety, with emphasis on teamwork and communication with staff. No high school diploma required; on-the-job training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed across designated areas.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to avoid damage.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, coworkers and supervisors.
• Collect, consolidate and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors and walls; polish surfaces.
• Wipe tabletops, chairs and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets and equipment as needed for cleaning.
• Clean interior partition glass and windows.
