Job summary

The Archdiocese of San Antonio is seeking a full-time Custodian to maintain parish and school facilities, keeping buildings clean, safe, and welcoming for worship, learning, and community life. You will be responsible for cleaning classrooms, offices, restrooms, gym, and liturgical spaces under the direction of the Director of Facilities and Maintenance.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift 50 lbs, operate cleaning equipment, follow safety protocols, and cooperate with clergy,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; background in custodial work is beneficial.
• Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and follow safety protocols.
• Reliable, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong time management and ability to coordinate with parish/school activities.
• Clear verbal communication and respectful interaction in a Catholic church setting.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect interior spaces including church, classrooms, restrooms, and gym.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms daily; restock supplies and manage waste.
• Support liturgical spaces, set up and clean up for events and sacraments.
• Maintain custodial supply room and report maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Secure buildings, monitor safety hazards, and coordinate with facilities team.
