Job summary

Case Western Reserve University is seeking a Custodian to provide high-quality cleaning services across campus buildings and residence halls. Qualifications

• Experience: 3 years of experience required.
• Must be able to read and follow instructions.
• Must be familiar with the proper use of cleaning tools, supplies and safety equipment.
• Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to pass the required physical examination.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty pounds; engage in frequent walking, standing, bending, stretching, and stair climbing; and operate power equipment such as high-speed buffers or auto-scrubbers.
• Ability to demonstrate successful support, education, and advocacy for all students, aligned with the values, mission, and messaging of the university, while adhering to the staff policy on conflict of commitment and interest.
• Ability to meet consistent attendance.
• Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.

Responsibilities

• Clean spaces daily, empty wastebaskets and recycling containers; carry trash outside to pickup locations.
• Spot clean walls, floors, and furniture; vacuum and mop floors; clean chalkboard/whiteboards.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms; restock supplies; dispose of vending funds; clean interior glass.
• Dust all surfaces including desks, chairs, windowsills and blinds daily.
• Clean Venetian blinds, HVAC grills, stairwells and handrails; maintain elevator interiors and tracks.
• Communicate daily with supervisor about achievements, progress, and problems; report quality issues; suggest improvements.
• Keep custodial closets clean; manage keys; assist coworkers and security during emergencies.
• Assist in coordinating supplies and track equipment; follow safety procedures.
