Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university. Responds to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents.
• Completes tasks independently, using professional cleaning techniques. Actively participates in ongoing training to maintain professional cleaning skills.
• Empties, cleans and replaces liners in waste containers daily. Coordinates removal of recycling and large waste and debris items.
• Regularly inspects and refills supply of paper, soap and other products throughout the shift to ensure supplies are available at all times.
• Maintains carpeted areas through daily vacuuming and spot treatment of stains. Maintains hard flooring and stair treads through daily sweeping, wet and/or dry mopping.
• Inspect and actively maintains cleanliness of high-traffic areas such as restrooms, breakrooms and lobby areas throughout shift. Actively maintains cleanliness of door handles, water fountains, light switches, elevator buttons and similar high-contact surfaces.
• Dusts, cleans and disinfects a variety of surfaces to include furniture, walls, doors, glass, windows, counters, lab and bathroom fixtures.
• Properly uses, stores and maintains adequate supply of equipment and cleaning products. Uses resources in a safe, cost-effective manner.
• Uses assigned communication device to read and respond to texts, emails and service requests. Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.
