Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed Dining Services is hiring a Catering Captain at Barry University in Miami for both full-time and part-time openings. Prior catering and supervisory experience is required, with the possibility of a driver\'s license.

Pay ranges from $17.50 to $18.00 per hour, with online applications accepted only. The role coordinates staff schedules, assists with setup, services, and deliveries at scheduled functions, and ensures food safety and quality per HACCP.

Qualifications

• Requires prior catering experience and supervisory experience.
• Valid food handler\'s permit and/or alcohol server\’s permit may be required by state law.
• Driver\'s license may be required where state law dictates.

Responsibilities

• Determines workload requirements from catering orders.
• Meets with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements and changes.
• Interacts with customers and resolves complaints in a service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of menu items.
• Instructs staff on work expectations for catered functions.
• Helps staff set up rooms to desired specifications.
• Assembles and delivers food and supplies to scheduled locations.
• Serves food and beverages to guests.
• Returns food, beverages, serving equipment and utensils to the catering facility.
• Ensures proper presentation, portion control and serving temperatures; follows HACCP standards.
• Maintains sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies and utensils.
