Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or its equivalent; six months cashiering experience desirable.
• Knowledge of cashiering procedures and basic arithmetic.
• Customer service techniques for public contact in person and on the telephone.
• Basic record keeping procedures and operating features of computer equipment at cashiering.
• Ability to operate a point of sale register and learn storekeeping applications.

Responsibilities

• Operate a point of sale register to itemize and total selling price of merchandise or services.
• Collect payments and process transactions; issue receipts.
• Answer customer inquiries and assist in locating merchandise or services.
• Maintain cash drawer and balance daily transactions at close of shift.
• Train others to operate the POS register and prepare daily sales reports.
• Issue refunds or credits for returned merchandise.
