Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Campus Bus Operator to transport students, faculty, and staff across the Columbus campus and medical center, seven days a week. You will operate mid- to large-size buses on designated routes, conduct safety inspections, and assist passengers as needed.

This is an essential, full-time role with opportunities for overtime; a CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements is required, along with successful medical, drug, and alcohol screenings and a background

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger and air brake endorsements.
• Must successfully pass routine medical, drug, and alcohol screenings.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and days, including evenings, weekends, and special events.
• Must complete and pass an FBI/BCI background check.
• In accordance with policy, this position is essential and requires presence during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate 15- to 53-passenger buses, vans, and shuttles on designated routes and for special trips.
• Conduct daily safety inspections, fuel, clean, and prepare vehicles for service.
• Load and unload luggage and equipment; assist passengers as needed.
• Ensure a safe, smooth, and professional transportation experience for all riders.
• Document activities, maintain logs, and complete reports.
• Identify and report mechanical or safety issues promptly.
• Participate in training sessions to stay current on safety and service standards.
• Perform additional duties to support transportation operations.
