Job summary

Roane State Community College in Tennessee seeks a Bus Driver (temporary, part-time) to transport students, faculty and staff to events and athletic competitions. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel is required.

Responsibilities include operating, inspecting and maintaining buses; ensuring passenger safety; completing required paperwork; and complying with DOT and institutional regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience driving a commercial or passenger vehicle.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement and clean driving record.
• Big Bus-Class B CDL with P endorsement.
• Possess a current federal Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card.
• Must be at least 25 years of age.
• Have no DWI or DUI convictions.

Responsibilities

• Operates, cleans, maintains, fuels and inspects buses.
• Ensures safe operation of the bus.
• Ensures the safety of all passengers.
• Maintains current status of all qualifications of commercial driving according to institutional, local, state and federal regulations.
• Completes all necessary paperwork promptly and accurately according to institution, state and federal agencies.
• Completes all training and testing required by the institution, state and federal agencies.
• Maintains accurate records of hours of service and miles driven.
• Performs simple repairs to keep the buses safe and operable.
• Other duties as assigned.
