A transit/bus driver position is available to provide safe and reliable transportation for students and staff. The role involves operating buses on established routes, loading passengers, and conducting pre-trip inspections to ensure safety and reliability.

The candidate will need a CDL with endorsements, a valid state license, and the ability to pass a background check. Navajo language skills are preferred; evening or weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDL with endorsements and be insurable for vehicle operation.
• Navajo language preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Must pass background check with no felonies.

Responsibilities

• Provides transportation for students and employees on assigned routes.
• Assists with loading and unloading passengers.
• Drives bus in all weather conditions.
• Inspects vehicles before driving; checks gas, oil, water, tires, brakes and transmission.
• Performs routine safety checks and maintains buses.
• Schedules maintenance and ensures cleanliness of buses.
• Follows safety regulations and reports incidents promptly.
• Attends meetings and training relevant to the job.
• Communicates effectively with Navajo and English speakers.
