Under direct supervision, ensure a high degree of protection, safety, and security for students, personnel, visitors, and property by monitoring and patrolling hallways and parking areas to reduce the opportunity for theft, vandalism, and destructive activities, and to limit unauthorized access to grounds and facilities.

Qualifications

Education / Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid Texas driver's license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrier
  • Additional certifications in AED, CPI, and CPR will be required; training provided by District

Special Knowledge / Skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English; Spanish preferred
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to accurately record information in writing
  • Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations and maintain emotional control
  • Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultures
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with schedule changes with little or no warning

Experience

  • Security experience in an educational environment preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Security and Parking
  • Monitor student activities and patrol premises, including parking areas, to ensure security and verify authorized access
  • Report unauthorized persons and safety hazards to campus administrators and appropriate authorities
  • Manage vehicle access with parking permits and monitor parking lot during school hours and lunch periods
Student Management
  • Handle incidents related to student conduct violations and property damage
  • Maintain emotional and physical restraint when dealing with students
Other Responsibilities
  • Maintain daily contact with campus and security administrators via radio or telephone
  • Protect confidentiality of student and district information
  • Exhibit professionalism and serve as a role model
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Safety
  • Observe safety rules, report injuries, and participate in safety training
Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and occasional strenuous activities
  • Work outdoors and indoors, exposed to various weather conditions
