The role is Full Time, non-exempt, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM in Campo. Responsibilities include transporting patients, coordinating with the Transportation team, maintaining logs, and ensuring vehicle readiness.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Driver works under the direction of the Clinic Administrator and is responsible for providing transportation for eligible Southern Indian Health Council patients.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Transports adult and youth patients; delivers Senior meals.
• 2. Coordinates with the Senior/Transportation Coordinator and SIHC departments to transport clients when required.
• 3. Maintains a log of transportation by date and time, delineating point of departure, pick-up, destination, and mileage.
• 4. Maintains the servicing of government vehicles and reports on vehicle usage (mileage) at the beginning of each month to the SIHC Maintenance Supervisor.
• 5. Follows posted speed limits, caution signs, and traffic signals.
• 6. Ability to work a flexible schedule may be required based on need.
• 7. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:Driving experience required. A good driving record will be required at the time of hire and must be

maintained throughout employment. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Licenses/Certifications:A valid California Driver License will be required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment as a condition of continued employment.

Applicant must be insurable under SIHC vehicle insurance policy at the time of hire and throughout employment. Certifications and/or licenses appropriate to the positions required education and profession must also be valid and maintained.

Character:Applicants must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Must be responsible and able to exercise good judgment, accept administrative supervision, follow detail, including the ability to interact effectively and communicate with people in a professional and courteous manner. Must maintain strict confidentiality.

Other: Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment tuberculin skin test or x-ray, and blood/urine drug screening test. Health must be adequate to perform all duties of the position. Upon hiring, applicant must submit to fingerprinting for Child Abuse and Criminal Background review, employment background review, and sign all program agreements (confidentiality, patient rights, etc.). Applicants must complete a SIHC application questionnaire and submit it to Administration prior to the close date indicated.

Physical and Personal Requirements:Normal clinic/office environment. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Reach, bend, climb, stoop, lift up to 25 lbs. repetitive hand movement; use and view PC. Reliable transportation and car insurance as required by the state. Travel as needed.

Compliance:Each employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture at SIHC. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all SIHC policies and procedures. One must have the ability to understand the implications and complexities of all compliance policies. Participation in all compliance training is mandatory, and generally have a heightened awareness of policies and regulations that are specific to one’s department and position. All SIHC employees are expected to report violations or suspected violations of compliance policies or regulations.

INDIAN PREFERENCE

In the filling of any SIHC job vacancy, preference may be given to qualified Native American Indians, pursuant to the Indian Preference Hiring Act, 25 USC 472, unless other laws require the filling of a vacancy without regard to Indian preference (e.g. Public Law (P.L.) 94-437, Indian Health Care Improvement Act (IHCIA).
