Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day activities for implementing research protocols, including recruitment and data collection.

• Manage data collection tasks, recruit and consent participants, handle invoicing/billing under guidance.
• Develop and maintain IRB applications, amendments, and continuing reviews for qualitative aims.
• Support protocol development, SOPs, and process documentation.

Job description

University Staff

This position will work on clinical and community-based research projects and will provide research support by engaging in project management, qualitative research activities and evaluation across the project lifespan, regulatory needs, and reporting. The position may also involve assisting with general project needs, such as staffing, budget management, data collection and management, and other duties as determined by study Principal Investigators. The ideal candidate will have experience and training in project management; qualitative research data collection, methodology, coding, and analysis; multidisciplinary team science; and experience with developing and submitting institutional review board protocols for pragmatic trials, community- and clinic-based research, or health services research studies.

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-day activities related to the implementation of research protocols, including recruitment and consent of various research groups (e.g., patients, providers, families, community partners), collecting data through various methods (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups, observation), and coordinating and attending meetings with project investigators and staff
• Interview prospective subjects for a variety of research clinical trials. Educate potential subjects on the details of the studies through phone contacts and personal interviews
• Manage tasks for data collection (e.g., interviews and focus groups, surveys), such as recruitment, participant consenting and invoicing/payment under frequent guidance of PI and methodological co-investigator
• Develop and maintain Institutional Review Board applications, amendments, and continuing review documents for qualitative aims on study projects
• Assist with developing protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Running queries and reports in qualitative data management software (Atlas.ti) and supporting qualitative analysis (ex. query summary planning, compiling query summaries/matrix summaries, etc.), under significant guidance of the PI and methodological co-investigator

Work Location

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1 day per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Intermediate Professional

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field
  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
• One (1) year of experience in data collection, qualitative team-based coding and codebook development, and basic analysis of qualitative data

Senior Professional

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field
  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
• Experience as a project coordinator, with financial or budget tracking experience
• Two (2) years of experience in data collection (e.g., interviews, surveys, focus groups, observations), qualitative team-based coding and codebook development, and basic analysis of qualitative data

Preferred Qualifications

Intermediate Professional

• Master's degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field and two (2) years of qualitative data collection and analysis experience
• Experience collecting and managing data from surveys and/or electronic health records
• Experience in public health or health services research
• Experience submitting protocols to an institutional review board (IRB)
• Experience with reference management software
• Experience with budget management
• Previous employment in a university environment
• Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems)

Senior Professional

• Master's degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field and four (4) years of qualitative data collection, coding, and analysis experience
• Experience as a project manager and with budget management
• Experience in public health or health services research
• Experience with qualitative data management software, such as ATLAS.ti
• Experience moderating focus groups
• Training or experience in mixed methods research designs and integration strategies
• Experience submitting protocols to an institutional review board (IRB)

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

• Intermediate Professional: $54,302-$72,765
• Senior Professional: $58,705-$78,665

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
